1950 CLASSIC LAND ROVER 80 " FOR RESTORATION

    • LAND ROVER 80" SERIES 1 FOR SALE IN YORKSHIRE

Here we have a "Barn Find"  80" Classic Land rover for sale all the way from Australia for restoration .

This land rover, just arrived from Australia where it has stood in a dry sheep shearing shed for the last 30 years.

You could say that it is a real Barn find !

This Land Rover is the very sought after lights behind the grille model .

The chassis on this land rover which is original with the correct stamped in number can only be decribed as brilliant and has surface rust only. There are some small marks where it appears to have had something welded on , since removed, maybe a roo bar ?

The bulkhead has only a light surface rust and must be the best 80" bulkhead we have seen !

Even the early side lights are on the bulkhead.

You can see from the pics that even the exhaust pipe is intact .

We think that this land rover was possibly used to drive a sheep shearing machine as it still has the rare centre power take off fitted.

As you will see the land rover sits well on its springs although one rear spring does have a broken leaf.

It is fitted with an original 80" hardtop which again is quite rare and not to be mistaken with shortened later models which sometimes people have fitted in the past on others.

The original canvas flaps on the door tops have been removed and have been professionally fitted with replacement metal covers as well as some outside door handles .These could be easil;y removed and the canvas flaps could be reinstated.

The solex carburettor distributor cap, leads, fuel pump and headlamps are missing but are all obtainable.

The land rover engine turns over freely.

The correct "bullit type" Lucas starter motor is removed but it is with the vehicle.

It is fitted with not only one wiper motor but is fitted with the second optional wiper also !

As it is an export spec land rover it is fitted with the opening vent panel below the windscreen .

There is also some paperwork showing the name of the importer and supplying dealer in Australia and a picture of the garage although it is upside down ! as well as a heritage certificate from the Museum at Gaydon

All in all this will make a great restoration project or maybe it just needs a recomissioning job ?

We will be happy to help with the restoration or recomissioning of this land rover so please enquire .
